Structural Engineering & Design
in the Florida Keys
Licensed PE structural engineering and design for every kind of Florida Keys project — residential homes, commercial buildings, marine and restoration design.
Overview
Every structural project in the Florida Keys has to be engineered for 180-mph design winds, FEMA flood elevations, and local building department land development codes. We handle the full structural discipline across residential, commercial, and marine projects.
What We Deliver
Structural Engineering Capabilities
Structural design and analysis
Detailed structural analysis for new construction, existing buildings, and concept-stage feasibility. Every load path, span, and connection verified against the Florida Building Code before a drawing is stamped.
Hurricane and Wind load design
Design for the Keys' 180-mph wind zone: tie-down schedules, uplift resistance, lateral bracing, and impact-rated framing that meets engineering standards.
Renovations and additions
Load-bearing wall removals, new openings, second-story additions, and whole-home reconfigurations — engineered so the existing structure carries the new loads without failure.
Restoration and spalling repair plans
Assessment and repair design for concrete deterioration and rebar corrosion on aging Keys structures — a common issue on coastal homes and commercial buildings.
Structural Inspections and Assessments
Condition assessments, post-storm damage evaluations, and insurance letters, delivered as sealed PE reports typically within 1 week.
New construction structural engineering
Full signed-and-sealed structural drawings for new residential, commercial and marine projects detailed for the Florida building code and the building department reviewer before submittal.
Retrofit engineering
Bringing existing Keys structures up to current wind, flood, and structural code — especially for 1970s and 1980s homes renovated for insurance or resale.

Our Process
How the work moves
- 01
Consultation
Discuss in office the scope of work, design intent and client inspiration. Once aligned on the direction of the project, we provide the engineering and design proposal.
- 02
Site Visit & Proposal
After completion of the site visit, a detailed estimate will be sent to the client outlining the scope of work to be provided by Campbell Engineering, along with a project delivery schedule. Upon acceptance of the proposal and receipt of a mutually agreed retainer payment, the project will be scheduled to commence the design and engineering.
- 03
Engineering & Architectural Design
We send a proposed structural layout for your review and approval. Once approved, we complete the full PE-stamped drawing set for final review. Our services include comments from your contractor and Monroe County or city building department officials.
